Not a sermon…just a thought
We may not be able to understand the reason for our chains, but we can always choose the response!
This past Sunday I kicked off a new series at EPIC called PRISON BREAK, which is a four week study through the book of Philippians. The first message was CHANGE IN CHAINS from Philippians chapter 1.
In chapter 1 the Apostle Paul describes the cause for his chains.
- Chained by Circumstances (vs. 12-14)
- Chained by Critics (vs. 15-18)
- Chained by Christ (vs. 29-30)
Like Paul we all have to battle through chains that are a result from circumstances, critics, and sometimes even Christ.
The reason may be difficult to determine, but the response is always a choice.
As Christians we can choose to do the following when we feel chained by circumstances, critics, or Christ.
- Choose to Celebrate (vs. 18-21)
- Choose to Contend (vs. 27-28)
- Choose to Continue (vs. 25)
We may not be able to understand the reason for our chains, but we can always choose the response.

Bobby’s Bio
Bobby grew up in Independence, Missouri, which is located just outside of Kansas City. He graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri with a BA in Bible/Theology. After graduating from college he married Vanessa and moved to Metro Detroit to plant a church. Bobby and Vanessa spent five years establishing Pontiac Family Worship Center before moving back to Kansas City to start another new church. Bobby launched the Synergy Church Network in 2008. He and Vanessa also started EPIC Church in 2009. In addition to serving as Lead Pastor at EPIC, Bobby’s desire is to plant churches and develop leaders.
Bobby is a passionate Christ follower, a loving husband, a future father, a gifted communicator and a church planting pastor. Bobby has been preaching for the last fourteen years both nationally and internationally. His primary passion is to see people come to Christ.
