Excellent post! I too have just heard of some ministers that have fallen to satans trap. I actually know people that attend one of the churches. This has affected them very deeply. I want to continue to remember my fellow minister friends that GOD would keep us all safe and that we would never be so prideful that we can't ask for prayer and help. I agree with you One is one too Many!

What I noticed at Teen Challenge over the years was what I guess would be called the "Power Encounter." The discipleship program was intense, focused and had the plan Sam talked about. But each student that finished the program and remained drug and alcohol free had a power encounter moment where the program "kicked in."
I remember one night at Evangel when David Wilkerson was speaking. He (as usual) was talking about holiness. He said he was asked if he believed in divine sanctification as a second separate work. His response was, "Yes I do. I believe there is second work. And a third, a fourth, a fifth, and as many as it takes."
That's probably what Paul was referring to when he talked about those with a "form of godliness but deny the power." If we want to avoid big "moral" failures as well as the little ones - those power encounters must occur as often as possible and as often as the Spirit thinks it is necessary.
There are steps we must take, we must seek wisdom, and understanding, and that higher life takes manifest presence of G-d which provides the sufficient grace to do the work.

Everything you wrote is on target. Their is a bigger issue, changing our behavior to incorporate the key behaviors you wrote about takes a plan. A plan that must be practiced. A plan that must be revisited regularly.
I recently had a pastor tell me of an open confession, he had received of bad behavior from a fellow minister. His friend laid out a plan to change. The facts are he did not change and he also started avoiding the calls from the minister he had been honest with. The end result was a full moral failure 6 months later.
The problem is not that we don't have the right ideas, intentions, and even the motivation. The problem is changing behavior takes skill not willpower. I highly recommend the book Change Anything by Kerry Patterson, and David Maxfield. The research they have done and the six steps they call us to incorporate in our plan to change are crucial to true and permanent change.
The use of a coach is highly recommended by the authors if you are going to change. Stop beating yourself up about your bad days when you fail. You are not bad but your plan is flawed. Study yourself. Become the scientistof your life collecting data about the plans flaws and change the plan. We must understand what it really takes to change if we are going to lead at a higher level.

Post was awesome, and very encouraging. I loved the prayer that you wrote at the end. You have a great ability of making Epic Church feel like their not in it alone. That your relationship doesn't stop after the service on Sunday, but continues throughout the week. I feel as if your fighting for me specifically, and that's a great feeling to have from your leader. Thank you for all that you do that I see and even more for the things that you do in secret for this church.
